| My
paintings are inspired by a vibrant palette of color and an
appreciation of Tlingit designs. The Raven, for instance, is
bold and solid in form and determines the composition. I employ
my favorite colors in layers of blended oils to form a dramatic
background.
The paintings are
a reflection of my art experiences, both traditional and contemporary.
Being a Native Alaskan living in the modern world, the synthesis
of the two is very gratifying.
It is my way of preserving
and honoring the cultural traditions my mother and grandmother
have taught me.
