ARTIST STATEMENT

Candy Solomon is from the Lummi Nation, daughter of Michael Solomon of Lummi and Dorothea Purser of Suquamish. She is the granddaughter of Felix Solomon and Dora Williams and Robert Purser and Dora Peterson.

Candy received her Associate of Arts and Sciences Degree from Northwest Indian College and her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Art with a concentration in visual communications and production at Western Washington University.

Candy is the Graphics Specialist for Northwest Indian College producing a variety of printed materials including brochures, annual reports, schedules, posters, cards, catalogs, and calendars. Candy's art is inspired by Salish Coastal styles but also reflects her own contemporary style of design. Her artwork has been commissioned for community gatherings and events, and by state and national organizations.
